The number one piece of advice given to me before Joshua's birth was to get as much sleep as possible. This is fantastic advice. However, all the sleep in the world prior to birth hasn't really helped with the lack of sleep post birth. While some babies give their parents longer sleeping hours at night very early in life, our little Joshua has remained fixed on his three hour schedule. Last night, on the verge of 8 weeks of life, our main man decided to sleep for FIVE hours! That is five, wonderful, life-giving hours of consecutive sleep. The funny thing is, while he enjoyed his five hours, I did not. You see, my body is now very used to the three hour routine (I didn't say my body enjoyed it, only my body is now accustomed to it) so I was wide awake and waiting for him to join me. He did fuss around hour four, but went back to sleep. I did not. So now before I go to sleep I will cross one set of fingers for his prolonged sleep and the other set of fingers for mine!
