Ahhh...and yet

The last 3 weeks have been one thrill ride of doctor visits, medication, and blood tests in the Kennedy household but last night topped it all.

It started with a flu scare, double ear infection, diarrhea, fever, and rash which led to the realization that Josh is allergic to penicillin.  A week later a new rash:  5th disease.  Not so hard on Josh but potential danger to our belly baby.  So blood work for me to make sure I hadn't gotten it and passed it on.

Then yesterday we were walking outside, Josh with milk and a cookie in his hand, slipped and fell landing face first onto a paint can.  I think if he could have parted with his treats he may have braced himself....but what toddler will let go of a precious cookie?

With blood everywhere and a quick realization that I don't know anything I called my sister-in-law who buckled her toddler in the car and picked us up to head to the ER.  Once it stopped bleeding Josh didn't even seem to notice the huge gash on his nose.  After 3 hours of waiting in the ER we found out that the Dr. wanted a plastic surgeon and the one on call in the Woodlands wasn't coming in.  So they transferred us downtown to Texas Childrens.  There we waited another 3 hours for the Dr. to say we needed a plastic surgeon (ahhh) and we would have to wait for him.  By this time it had been over 12 hours since we had anything to eat or drink, 10 hours of hospital rooms and still no stitches.  Josh was a real trooper.  By 2 in the morning the surgeon stitched him up (Kevin got to watch the whole thing) and after 45 minutes of proving that he wasn't affected by the sedation they finally sent us home.

Josh woke up this morning back to crazy normal self and we've learned a thing or two about the ER.

All that to say it was a frustrating and patience learning experience but in the end we are so thankful for blessings God gives us everyday.  Simple things, for us, like medicine and Dr.'s that we have complete access too and so often take for granted.  Well we are especially thankful considering we have one courageous boy and another on the way!

Oh my precious family. It hurts my nose just to look at those pictures. Kids are sure tuff arn't they! I am glad you all survived the night. Stay away from the ER! And never complain about the boring routine life...it could be replaced by too much excitement.
Take care!

I told you God tests his prego moms. I am glad he is doing okay. Sam gets so excited she forgets to focus on balance and is tripping over everything.

The hospital visits are just preparing you for the craziness of having 2 kids:) We love you guys and you are always in our prayers.

At what point do you consider a padded room for all of you? :o) Boys are boys. Hope he gets to feeling better.
