Dash's Story

It has officially been a week since we brought baby Dash home and into our lives and what a WONDERFUL week!  That is probably because my mom was here and I didn't have to lift a finger.  She made three great meals a day, did ALL the laundry, scrubbed the kitchen floor, held a crying baby when I wanted to nap, and most important entertained Josh!  They went to the Jump Gym, played trains, and even went fishing.  There is no doubt that we were all spoiled rotten by her visit.  Unfortunately, she had to go back to the real working world and left us all alone.  Thanks mom you are amazing!

Monday the 7th, was Kevin's birthday, and we spent it playing at the park, eating Wings, and walking the mall while he got an i-phone.  I had been having small contractions all day, but they weren't bad at all and I figured they were pre-labor contractions.  I never had these with Josh.  In fact my water broke and 6 hours later, with Josh, I still wasn't having contractions.  So these were new to me.  By the time we were at the mall, the contractions were consistently 10 minutes apart but still didn't hurt too bad and didn't last long.  By nine o'clock that night there was no doubt this was the real deal.  We met our mid-wife at the Birth Center around 10:30 and was already at 6cm.  By 1:00am they broke my water and 22 minutes later we had a sweet little boy.  He came out screaming and looked great but after an hour the mid-wife noticed he was really working hard to breathe.  She was concerned that after many hours of working so hard to breathe his lungs may get tired so we transfered him to the NICU.  We spent the next 16 hours sitting with him completely monitored and he had no problems at all!  Way to go tough guy.  So finally we brought him home and have enjoyed the peace and quite and sweetness of our own beds all week.  Josh is a super big brother and is so gentle and concerned with Dash.  We are extremely blessed and thankful!

What a great birth story. Glad you had a good experience at Nativiti (minus the trip to the NICU afterwards!) Congratulations! and thanks for sharing. Victoria
