Happy Valentines Day?

Every year Kevin and I go to the theatre for Valentines Day. We've seen some great shows: My Fair Lady, Showboat, The Producers and a few off Broadway performances. This year was no different, or so we thought. Here is our Valentines Day theatre night recap.

5:45pm -Dash fed, Josh eating dinner with babysitter. We are in the car, off to a quick dinner before the show.

6:30 - Sitting down to dinner at Chedders. We have 45 minutes before we need to be on the road. Order quick, including an appetizer of chips and salsa (easy right?) let waiter know we are in a little bit of hurry. Realize we have a new waiter (looks like he could have been a number puncher at a former time in life). Umm....

6:50 - Get appetizer, dinner, and check all at the same time.

7:15 - On the road, plenty of time

7:30 - Stuck in traffic. Accident. We are NOT moving.

7:35 - Look the feeder is moving! Push our way over in our big ol' truck. Yay, we are moving, maybe even speeding, now!

7:45 - One block away from the theater. Again, not moving. I get out and run (in my dress and high heels) to will call to get our tickets.

7:55 - Still running around. Where is the theatre? Jones theatre, no. Hobby Center, no. Anyone know where the Alley Theatre is?

8:00 - Tickets in my hand. Waiting for Kevin to park and meet me.

8:05- Waiting.

8:10- Waiting.

8:15- Waiting. Doors to the show close. Very kind manager gives us tickets for a different night, no charge. What a doll.

8:20- Waiting. Now, worrying. Can't call him, I have his phone!

8:25 - Pacing outside, while waiting.

8:28 - See a man running like a mad man towards me. Yay, he is alive. Turns out he was stuck behind a malfunctioning parking garage bar. Can't pull forward, can't back up.

8:30 - Decide to take advantage of the babysitter and go see a movie instead. Start walking to the car. Now where is that parking garage? Did I mention it is 37 degrees outside?

8:35 - Found garage. Now where did Kevin park? Turns out he was a little rushed when parking and didn't really focus on the details of the parking location.

8:45 - Asked a parking attendant for directions. Pressed the panic button on the truck multiple times. Still walking around looking for the truck. We know it was parked next to a wall, thats about it. Decide to go above ground and start all over from the theatre...retracing steps is a good idea.

8:55 - Found the truck! Get warm! Use the handy iphone to find closest movie theater and times.

9:00 - On the road, driving in circles. Literally. LITERALLY. Use GPS to get us going again and locate theater.

9:15 - Can't find parking. Man, the movies are packed. Movie sold out. Head home.

9:45 - Decide to go get coffee and just enjoy eachother.

9:50- Ohh...Marco's Mexican restaurant. They have the BEST fried icecream..

10:00 - PERFECT Valentines night. Fried ice cream on the table, sharing a Shirley Temple with the man I love watching the Pitt, West Virginia game go into 3 overtimes.

Through it all, we laughed, held hands, and realized it's not about where you are on Valentine's Day, it's about who you're with!

i have to admit, i think stories/memories like this are the best! so out of what we expect, yet so many blessings in those moments! We try to make a plan, thinking it's what is BEST for us..yet, finding ourselves in a situation we didn't plan, didn't ask for, didn't WANT....and it turns out..it WAS best for us to see what matters, etc. :) i so enjoyed this adventure of yours. muah! (p.s. we gots me a camera!!))
