Utah Family Reunion

This past weekend we headed up to Utah for the biannual family reunion.  It was a whirlwind of a weekend, leaving Texas Thursday night flying to Albuquerque, then Friday we drove six hours to Utah only to turn around Sunday and head back home.  It was fast but oh so fun!  There were probably about 70 of us hanging out in the mountains, swimming in the lake, roasting hotdogs, playing cards and watching old family videos.  Josh, of course, had the time of his life running around and playing with all his cousins.  In fact the first thing he would say in the morning is "go find a friend".  He wanted to be where the people were (he is his fathers son for sure).  Normally keeping up with him in a venue such as the mountains would have been a very strenuous task but that is why Grammo and Papa are SO great!  It was a lot of fun and we can't wait until 2011 for the next big get together!

Grammo making the fry bread for the famous Arthur Navajo Tacos
Josh and Kevin enjoying the fruit of her labor!

Grammo and my Aunt Patty (the woman who raised me every summer)
It's hard to tell but Trey and Josh are wearing their matching 4th of July outfits.  We couldn't get them to sit still next to each other long enough for a picture.  Look at that belly!
Josh LOVED Sophie and would scoot up next to her where ever she was

The boys on the ride home...we wore them out!

Best Buddies

Josh and I got to fly to Mobile to visit one of my very favorite friends in the whole world - Rebecca.  Of course this means we also spent time with her adorable son and oh so accommodating husband, but truth be told this weekend was for us girls!  It was such a great time and Josh was an ideal traveler (a true blessing for a pregnant lady traveling without daddy to help).  On Monday we went to the beach which was Josh's first encounter with the sand and waves.  It took him a while to adjust to the sand in his toes and he hated when the water turned the sand into mud on his feet.  But after a while he was running up and down the beach, playing "tag" with the waves, and spying fish in the water.  The entire trip was way too fun and way overdue and while I loved every minute of it... it really only made me miss our friendship that much more.  Thanks for a super trip friend!

and good for you too

My first instinct was to conceal the fact that these yummy treats were not real ice cream.  This way he thinks I am the best mom ever who lets him eat ice cream 2x a day, even in the mornings...wow!  But I just couldn't do it.  I want him to know that healthy homemade yogurt pops can be just as satisfying on a hot summers day and I would never confess to him that given a choice (which obviously he doesn't have at this age) I would always go for the real deal full of sugar and cream over his healthy pops any day!  For now he is healthy and oh so happy!

Guess It's Time

As I enter my 29th week of pregnancy I realized it may be time to actually begin preparing for this new baby!  It has gone by so fast and once I finished the nauseating first trimester, life has been really good.  He is healthy, active, and loved by his older brother.  Josh still calls him Boom Boom Dash and occasionally will lean down to my belly just to give him a kiss.  I have fabric picked out and am beginning to sew the crib essentials and Kevin has been busy painting the new nursery.
While Kevin works hard the rest of us relax!

Up and Coming

Watch out for this up and coming baseball player.  Sure he skips first base, always slides into second, runs even if he misses the ball, likes to pitch to himself and never lets go of the bat but we think he has real potential!

Happy 4th!

Josh was having too much fun to stop for any kind of picture

We headed up to Gilmore, TX to see friends of ours from college this July fourth weekend.  I am so thankful for our good friends David, Tasha, and now Drew (even our dogs are friends) and it was our first time to visit them as they are always the ones making the effort to come to us.  Even though we didn't have hotdogs, watermelon, a parade, or sparklers (all things I've known to be essential on this patriotic weekend) we did have hot weather, good friends, water fun, birthday cake and dominos, which turned out to be just as great.  Also thanks to my extremely wonderful and thoughtful Aunt Patty we also had matching cousin outfits to continue a tradition she started when I was just a girl.   (Those pictures to come when I get the matching cousin...he was in Utah).  What a super weekend!

Welcome Baby Bryleigh

Baby Bryleigh Renea Kennedy joined us on Sunday June, 28th.  She weighed  8lbs 15oz and was 20 1/2 inches long.  She is precious and her big brother Owen is absolutely head over heals for her.  With the only girl amongst many Kennedy boys she is sure to be spoiled!  Her Uncle Kevin is equally enthralled with her and goes straight to Jen's house when he gets home from work to hold his new niece.  Josh on the other hand is really indifferent.  He knows she is a baby but is much more interested in Owens toys than his new sister.
