Finally!
Finally a new post! It isn't that we haven't had anything post worthy since the beginning of May, actually we've been quite busy with a church BBQ, my parents visiting, Mothers Day, Six year wedding anniversary, Josh crawling, and Kevin's participation in his best childhood friends wedding. (Yes, you read correctly, Josh is crawling! A video is soon to follow.) So what might you ask finally got me motivated enough to post... our garden. It is done. Well, at least the plants are actually in the ground, which is one step closer to harvesting yummy home grown tomatoes and other healthy stuff! It may seem extremely late to be planting vege's but according to the Farmer's Almanac we are right on schedule with the moon. The only disappointing aspect was the fact that many of the plants we wanted were not available, so we had to buy seeds. Who knows, they may grow, they may not. We did however get watermelons, tomatoes, cucumbers, green peppers, chile peppers, zucchini squash, and cantaloupe plants. Our seed plants were green beans, snap peas, pumpkin, spinach, butternut squash, carrots, and onions. I am such a weirdo, but as we were leaving the nursery today I was so extremely excited! I feel like Wang Lung in The Good Earth. In times of prosperity and times of hardship he always held tight to his land with confidence and pride. Imagine the feeling if these plants actually produce something!
(Josh IS smiling here!)

We just planted a few things last week. Good luck with all of it. I know how you feel, I check every single day, usually 3 or 4 times to see if there's any green bean plants poking through the dirt yet. There is nothing better than feeding your kids food that you have grown yourself and know where it came from. Hope you had a good visit with your parents. Heather
Wow, my daughter with dirty hands. I am so impressed! Kevin and Josh you have turned our city girl into a country bumpkin! Hope their is no trailer house to follow.
