Eternal Matters

One of our favorite authors is John Piper, and currently I am reading his book Seeing and Savoring Jesus Christ. He has a wonderful way of reminding you of things you already knew, but often forget when we get caught up in ourselves. If I were to quote every notable thing he wrote from the book, I'd be rewriting the entire thing, but there were a few things that stuck out that I would like to share. He reminded me that of all the hopes I have, some simple, like I hope Joshua doesn't have trouble falling asleep today or I hope Kevin gets home early enough that we can go for run. Others more thought provoking, like, I hope we teach Joshua to grow up and make wise decisions or I hope Kevin's business continues to do well in order to provide for the family. But Titus 2:13 tells me what my true hope should be, "our blessed hope, the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ". It so easy for me to get caught up in this world and the things that are important to me that I often forget the true and overall meaning of man is to know God and enjoy Him forever. That is my true hope, and in that I can rest. So I am adding a new component to this blog. Words that inspire me to remember to live Titus 2:13.

I read that book several years ago and remember if being very good. Our church gave away from copies of it in December, and I was planning on reading it again soon.
