*According to our measurements Joshua is around 15 pounds and is 25 1/2 inches long.
*He can roll over from his stomach to his back BOTH directions!
*He can sit up by himself (leaning on his fat rolls) for over 2 minutes.
*He is now aware of Maggie and loves to track her with his eyes around the room.
*He got his first cold and snores louder than his Uncle Bud.
*And as you will see, he loves to look at himself in the mirror!

Eternal Matters
One of our favorite authors is John Piper, and currently I am reading his book Seeing and Savoring Jesus Christ. He has a wonderful way of reminding you of things you already knew, but often forget when we get caught up in ourselves. If I were to quote every notable thing he wrote from the book, I'd be rewriting the entire thing, but there were a few things that stuck out that I would like to share. He reminded me that of all the hopes I have, some simple, like I hope Joshua doesn't have trouble falling asleep today or I hope Kevin gets home early enough that we can go for run. Others more thought provoking, like, I hope we teach Joshua to grow up and make wise decisions or I hope Kevin's business continues to do well in order to provide for the family. But Titus 2:13 tells me what my true hope should be, "our blessed hope, the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ". It so easy for me to get caught up in this world and the things that are important to me that I often forget the true and overall meaning of man is to know God and enjoy Him forever. That is my true hope, and in that I can rest. So I am adding a new component to this blog. Words that inspire me to remember to live Titus 2:13.

Look who learned how to post...
It appears that Misty has been carrying this family blog for quite some time, and so I have finally decided to chip in a little (or...I finally paid attention to Misty when she explained to me how to post). People kept saying, "Kevin, I really like the pictures on your blog" and I would say something like "We have a blog?" After reading through this thing, it looks like Misty has done a great job. I have a multi-talented wife. But most anyone reading this already knew that.
Things are going great for the Kennedy's right now. I am now working at Kennedy Fabricating, Inc. and business is good so far. I'm much more excited about going to work. I actually look forward to Monday mornings now, as opposed to the past where Sunday night was the worst time ever.
As evident by the pictures on this blog, Josh is a handsome little boy and it's a good thing too. You can already see where his hair will begin receding in approximately 19 years or so. Misty is a fantastic mom and it won't be long before our kid can read and before he knows a million rhyming songs.
God is truly blessing our family and we are grateful for that. I don't want to over do it on my first post, so I'll cut it short.

Life Beyond Baby
Looking at this blog it would be easy to assume we have no life beyond our baby. Well, looking at our life that conclusion is basically true (as it should be...he is a newborn after all!) However, as he is settling into month three and is more accustomed to this world, and we are more accustomed to him, things have started to get back to normal. For instance, I started sewing again. This may not sound too exciting, but I haven't turned on the machine since he has been born. I was so thrilled with my first little curtain,
I just couldn't stop and finished curtains for the entire kitchen.
Chair covers are next on the list.
In this simple way I am beginning to feel like me again.
Kevin has also had some excitement in his life. Starting in January he went to work full time for the family business. He actually looked at me last Sunday night and said he was looking forward to work on Monday. Come on...how many times has that happened before? I love the new job because he is excited about it, but mostly because he gets home 2 hours earlier every night.
Kevin was also asked to be a deacon at our church and was voted in on Wednesday night. He will be serving in the finance area (fitting huh?)
Even Maggie the dog has begun to adjust to life with Joshua. She has had her moments of jealousy and pouting, and she still craves extra attention when he is sleeping (hence the fact that she is sitting in my lap at this very moment). But now instead of avoiding him at all costs, she has begun to sit next to him, take naps with us on the bed, and even clean up the spit he sometimes leaves on the floor.

Big Man
The boycott continues, although negotiations are now in progress. Basically, we got him to take a small amount the next day (actually our very patient Aunt Becky deserves the credit, he took 2 ounces from her as she spoke to him in Spanish), but have decided to take a small break for a while. Right now his thoughts toward the bottle are pretty negative and we are hoping his memory is short and he'll forget about it for a while. This may be the completely incorrect approach to take, but we're takin it! There isn't a whole lot more to say, but I've included pictures of our Big Man. He hates to sit almost as much as he hates the bottle, and whenever he can he is trying to stand. For this reason Kevin put together his standing play pal. He really likes it!

Boycotting Bottles
Is a twelve week old baby too young to boycott? I'll answer that with a resounding NO! He may not actually know it by its name, or understand the rules that regulate an official boycott, but he sure knows how it works. I'm actually not sure if he is boycotting or just on strike, but one thing we do know is that Joshua does not like his bottle anymore! Starting week 4 we purposely gave Josh one bottle a day to avoid this exact situation. He loved his bottle, and took it willingly from anyone. Then around Christmas time he began to show signs of dislike for the bottle, but we were always able to persuade him (it was either us, or hunger). But starting last week he has gone from mere dislike, to pure hatred of that nasty rubber nipple. We have tried it all: different bottles, different nipple sizes, different feeding times, and different temperatures. The result is always the same: dislike, screaming, spitting, and refusal. Last night our persistent/stubborn (you pick) child went almost 6 hours without eating to prove he could hold out longer than us. He may have won the battle, but believe me, we will win the war!
