Uncle Bud's Birthday

Yesterday was Kenneth's (aka Uncle Bud) birthday, and this post chronicles Joshua's day of celebrating. First you must know that yesterday was absolutely the BEST napping day of Joshua's life up to date. While this may not sound very exciting to you, to me it's as if I won 1st place in the marathon that has lasted the last 3 1/2 months. He napped without crying and he napped for two extended periods of time. He was also the happiest for the longest period of time that I have ever seen him. Is there a corrolation between the naps and attitude, I'd have to conclude yes. So, all that to say that because he was in such a great mood we decided to try an art project for Uncle Bud's Birthday. I got out the paint, paper, and paintbrushes. Josh has begun gripping things and while he held onto the paintbrush, I moved the paper in front of him. It turned out to be a huge mess of fun (sadly, no picture). We turned his peice of artwork into a birthday card, and I held Joshua's hand while he wrote a message to Uncle Bud on the inside. The only marker I could find was permanent, and just as we finished the entire project with no casulties, I accidently ran the marker into Josh's head! The more I scrubbed, the more it spread. I couldn't let this go without a picture, but Kevin had the camera with him, so we ran over to Jen and Keith's house. As good natured as Josh is, he sat perfectly still while Keith took pictures and Jen and I laughed hysterically.
That night we went to Pa and Nana's house to celebrate. Josh and Pa were flannel buddies and then Owen joined them to play with the expensive, educating children's toy Nana gave them. We had cake and sang Happy Birthday and by the end of the night Joshua was popped. It was a busy day so Nana put him to sleep, blue dot and all!
